Useful information for Sectional Title Owners

 

Update your Sectional Title Owner information   

Ownership – In order for the City of Johannesburg to have the correct ownership details on your account, refer to your Title Deed document and inform us of your property registration date, stand number, township name and other relevant property information. Contact our Joburg's call centre: 0860 Joburg or 0860 56 28 74 and log a query.

 

If you are not receiving a Rates Account  

Each owner is being billed personally and no longer via their Body Corporate or Managing Agent. For the system to work, the City must have the correct postal addresses for each individual owner.

  • No account yet? We need your information.
  • Ask the managing agent for a copy of their account; OR 
  • Call Joburg's call centre: 0860 Joburg or 0860 56 28 74 or email us at joburgconnect@joburg.org.za and request them to provide you with your account number (and to do this you will need you ID number and your physical address, your unit number and your complex name). Then request a duplicate statement be posted or emailed to you.

In the past, municipal rates accounts have been posted to the Body Corporate, therefore Council does not have postal addresses for individual owners within Sectional Title Schemes. We require this information in order to be able to post individual owners their rates accounts from 1 July 2008 (the service portion of the account will continue to be sent to Body Corporates or the nominated managing agents).

 

If your account is still in the name of the previous or wrong owner

Change of Ownership

In order for the City of Johannesburg to have the correct ownership details on your account, refer to your Title Deed document and inform us of your property registration date, stand number, township name and other relevant property information.

  • If your account is still in the name of the previous or wrong owner, please contact the City to update your details and postal address. Please inform the Rates and Taxes Department in writing. e-Mail us with your relevant property information. ratespolicy@joburg.org.za (refer to your Title Deed document and inform us of your property registration date, stand number, Township Name and other relevant property information)
  • Domestic Sectional Title property owners can also write to: The City's Rates & Taxes Directorate, PO Box 1450, Johannesburg, 2000
